After giving a long break to professional chess, playing in Europe’s largest chess tournament will be a great challenge for me. It is arguable that whether it is a good idea or not to join such a strong tournament without a solid preparation, but I believe that these kinds of challenges actually make us stronger. Es wurde verstanden, dass das System für die Spieler, die am Ende der Tischreihe immer seinen Platz (1, 3, 4 oder 6) hält oder 2 Spieler (1–6 oder 3-4) halten ihre Plätze an den Ecken, erfolgreich läuft. This time challenge is not at home but abroad! With the co-organization of Croatian Chess Clubs (Šahovski klub Draga Rijeka, Šahovski klub Krk, Šahovski savez Primorsko-Goranske županije) International Open Chess Championship of County of Primorje and Gorski Kotar will be held in island Krk, in Croatia. Official title of the tournament is “Zlatni otok Krk – 2014” and this is the second event of series which started only last year. FIDE competition rules and 9 rounds of Swiss System will be applied in the tournament. Turkish Chess Federation has announced the second memorial tournament for Ali IPEK, who contributed a lot to the development of the Turkish chess. “2014 Ali İPEK Anı Turnuvası” will be held in Ankara, Turkey under the FIDE competition rules with 9 rounds of Swiss System. Competition is limited with 100 participants and ELO/UKD ratings will be used for determining the final list. Digital chess sets will be used and real time broadcasting is planned for the occasion.
