    Narrative & Numbers

The Value of Stories in BusinessProf. Aswath DAMODARAN Last year, I attended one of Prof. Damodaran’s valuation seminars and I learnt a lot during that condense programme. In addition to my economist title, at the seminar Professor introduced me to the participants as the translator of his book, The Little Book of Valuation and I must admit that it was a very good feeling.🙂 Then at the end of the seminar, upon a question Professor mentioned from one of his another book. Investment Horizon and Style

Dividend, value or growth companies; long-term investments, position trading or day trading? Which stocks to buy or sell and how long to keep those positions? Who are the investors that address my personality and expectations, and what are their achievements? These are just some of questions every person should ask to himself/herself on this voyage. As our ideas not homogenous, our styles and role-models will naturally differ. I see it as a richness and respect to each strategy as long as it brings success. On this ground, it is difficult to describe my investment strategy under just a single category. The first book I have read on portfolio management was…
